We return to this direction to appreciate our work.  Let us provide the time and place to pull back from the process, the product and evaluate how far we have journeyed through our Innerlandscape.   Society does not often provide much time to be still and evaluate and for that reason each exercise includes Your Silence.  It is important to detach from experience, evaluate and assimilate from a quiet center.

EXERCISE

  •  All thoughts, and words are all welcomed here. 

  • Upon reflection of your initial challenge, how do you feel you have progressed?

  •  

  •  Does the challenge still feel overwhelming? Unsettled? Unresolved?

  •  

  •  Has the challenge surprised you?   Did it changed form or substance?

  •  

  • Does it still bother you? 

  •  

  • Are you satisfied with your progress?

  •  

  •  Can you rest for a moment?

  •  

  •  Is there a sense of resolution? Do you see a new beginning?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your  Movement

 

Time: At least one hour outdoors

 

Exercise 1: Take time to sit outside quietly and feel the environment around you.  Which direction is the wind blowing?  What message might it carry for you from this direction?   If you were one of our winged friends, where would this wind take you next?  Arise, spread your wings and fly with the wind being carried softly on its changing breeze. Take yourself for a walk in a new direction.  If possible, begin by heading from the east to south to west to north and return.  It does not have to be a new route or new place.  It can be somewhere where you are already comfortable.  Approach it with a new awareness.  You may choose to simply walk a circular path around your block or in your yard.  Make yourself comfortable with doing new things.  The goal is to be gentle in the welcoming of spirit.

Exercise 2: Sun Salute

Purpose: Overall well being , balancing energy and benefits the major vital organs and is tri doshic cleansing and clearing

Done  facing East .

 Come to the top of your mat standing position bring hands to heart in a prayer position shoulders relaxed. Connect down through the soles of your feet. Visualize stretching up the crown of your head. Visualize the sun, the warmth and clearing energy .

Keep a softness across the heart. Take a deep breath palms together top of the inhale reach for the sky palms touch

Exhale as you drop into the forward bend, draw the lower belly into your core, softening the knees, lengthening the spine.

Inhale. Stretch the right leg back into a lunge making sure to align the front knee over the ankle in a 90* position.  allow the back knee to be strong and straight but not locked. Keep the hips high and gluts engaged.  In the lunge, there is tendency to drop the hips which creates unnecessary strain on the lower back.

Exhale. Take front leg bring into dog pose on hands and knees , inhale.

As you exhale, drop your knee and dip with the chest into the floor lying on the mat squeeze your gluts.

Inhale. Press the pubic bone for a strong pelvic tilt into Cobra stretching out through spine.

Inhale. bring right foot to the front

Exhale lunge align knee over ankle and bring the left the to the top of the mat

 inhale as you

            

 raise up through the spine reaching for the sun .  Exhale hands to heart. Repeat this exercise for the completion of a sun salute.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your Art

 

Materials: collected objects, images, bells, feathers, shells, branches, beads and baubles.  Anything that draws you in and lets you lightly dance upon the breeze and changing winds of life.

 

Time: 1 hour

 

Exercise I : Create a mobile, wind chime or banner celebrating you. If you sew, you may choose to make a banner collaged with the images of success and movement. Make sure this project moves with the wind maintaining its beauty and balance.

 

Exercise 2: Silk Painting.  This is one of the favorite activities in our workshops.  Beverly Lazar lead participants through a free-flowing series of exercises to explore and discover this exciting medium.  Participants make sun catchers, ornaments or scarves.  If you have the interest and space , materials to make sun catchers can be ordered from www.dharmatrading.com  The nice part of this exercise it that allows beauty through flow and the capture of light.  Since, all of these silk objects are individually made, we have an ever-changing inventory of these completed works at www.ils-art.com .

 

 

Your Silence

Time: ONGOING

Prayer and gratitude.  Always remember to be thankful for the chance to live this life and learn these lessons. Connect with the universal force grounding into the earth and reaching into the heavens. However you conceive of this power, allow yourself to feel connected.  It is a great gift to have a body and experience life on this planet.  This is your place of power where you can make a difference in yourself and in your world.  Stay connected throughout your day.  Your time is now. Go forth with blessings.

CONTINUE The Running Your Energy Meditation from chapter IX

RUNNING YOUR ENERGY FOR BALANCE, CLARITY, AND HEALING

  • Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor, preferably without any shoes. Allow your palms to rest comfortably face up on your thighs.

  •   Imagine a grounding cord dropping down from the base of your spine, at least as wide as your hips.  This grounding cord can be made of any material you like just make sure the energy is clear and transparent.

  •  

  • Visualize roots dropping down from the soles of your feet connecting you to the earth.  Gently allow the earth's energy in a healing green color to come up through the soles of your feet, through your legs, thighs to the base of your spine where the energy runs back down to the earth.

  •  

  • Imagine a bright golden sun atop of your head.  make it your own unique color of gold.  A color that feels good to your body, mind and spirit. Without leaving your grounded body bring back all of your energy to yourself , neutral and in present time. If you have left energy at work, or school, the bank or grocery store, with a loved one or not- s-o loved one, call it all back to you now, in clear present time form and allow the energy to fill the sun above your head.  As much as you care about others, your energy is a unique blueprint for your soul and only you can use its strength and power.

  •  

  • When the sun is full and clear and golden, gently allow this energy to come in through your crown, moving slowly down the back of your head and neck, all the way down your spine filling every cell of your body with golden present time energy.

  •  

  • When it reaches the base of your spine allow to mix with the grounded earth energy and begin to allow bring this golden- green, earth solar combination to come up through your body. 

  • Most people prefer about 10% earth to 90% solar combination, but if you are feeling the need for more grounding, please adjust it to best serve your body.  Allow this combination to move up the front of your body filling your pelvic floor, your abdominal core, your solar plexus, heart and lugs, moving down your shoulders and arms, out our fingertips, then gently up through your throat, your face and ears, your forehead, and shower out through the top of your head filling the space 18 inches around you.  Sit in this position for at least 10 minutes.  Try and work up to 30 minutes 1-2 times a day.

 

 

 

 

CONCLUSION

Dream life and  real life  interconnect and collide, sometimes seamlessly and, sometimes, with a big bang.  Medicine dreams and storytelling were woven in the fabric of this land long before our current society arrived to pillage and plunder, to build and bewilder with its dazzling array of lights and rights.  When the sun, moon and the stars were the lights which gave life its tone, there was magic and mystery in the world.  We were connected directly to the rhythm of all that is.  We did not have to look to a brighter more mystical afterlife because life itself was magical.  True, we missed out on the luxuries that distract and comfort us through our current lives, but a sense of meaning and connection pervaded the early wisdom and story telling. The stories might come from dream, vision, experiences and the assimilation of all of these.  There were not proofing boards to check the facts.  If some of the facts could not be verified in the physical world, there was the trickster archetype of coyote to help you uncover the hidden world.  There was no need to verify at the atomic and subatomic level.  Each person was respected for understanding the stories at any level which it touched them.  There was no one right interpretation.  Stories would be told many times to transmit wisdom. Truth was an internal affair. Art was a part of living.  People sang and danced and shared their wisdom through ritual and daily life.  Rhythms of work, rest and play were balanced.  We live in such a fast paced, stimulating and often overloaded time.  It makes sense that Evidence based work is required as everyone wants to make sure that the work they are funding is leading to change.  We have learned that evidenced based work can include many modalities, both traditional, complementary and alternative.  I hope this work encourages balance in your work and in your life.

Thank you for joining me on this journey and allowing me to support you in discovering your Innerlandscape.  Do not get discouraged when you feel the world is not on your same page.  At times we all feel out of step or out of “synch”.  Just remember to watch for the synchronicity in your life: the little times of magic, the signs from the earth, her blossoms and her beings.  Feel the wind and listen to the melody of the rain. Listen to that song you cannot get out of your head and that feeling that won’t leave your heart.  Life is abundant and your Innerlandscape is always waiting to be explored.  We can all make a difference at this time on the planet as we find our inner peace and happiness and share them with the world.     The Innerlandscape is never finished.  It is ever-changing.  When reflecting on your work, there is always something you would have liked to change: written a different line, played a different note, added an extra color.  I encourage you to always treasure your first works, the rough drafts.  Permit a pause, a momentary sense of completion from which to start again.  Take this chance and allow your clients to tell their stories and by all means,  tell your story the way you would like it to be told.
